O-1 Work Visa

The O-1 Visa is for individuals with extraordinary abilities in:

  • science
  • the arts
  • education
  • business
  • athletics, or
  • motion pictures or television

There are three categories of O-1 Visas:

O-1: for the qualifying individual
O-2: for essential support personnel reporting to the O-1 Visa holder
O-3: for the spouse and unmarried children of O-1 Visa holder


Eligibility
  • The work performed must be temporary.
  • The individual must possess skills that are extraordinary within the field of sciences, arts, education, business, athletics, or within the field of motion picture or television industry.

Acclaim
  • The O-1 Visa applicant must show sustained national or international acclaim and recognition for his/her achievements.


Proof of Extraordinary Ability
Evidence of extraordinary ability may be: contracts, awards, nominations, prices, published material or similar documentation reflecting the nature of the achievement.

Travel
You may travel freely in and out of the U.S. for the duration of the O-1 Visa

Duration of Stay
You may stay in the U.S. on an O-1 Visa for as long as necessary to complete the event or activity. You may extend your stay in one year increments, as long as you continue in the same activity for which you were originally granted the O-1 Visa.
