If you are traveling to the U.S. for business (B-1 Business Visa) or tourism (B-2 Tourist Visa) you will be allowed to stay for a period of up to six months. However, it is possible to extend your stay for up to six additional months.

Extension
To extend your stay, you must:
- File an extension of stay application with the USCIS
- Show that you intend to depart the United States at the end of your extension period
- Submit the extension application before your current stay expires
- Show evidence of financial support
Only persons who are already in the United States on a B-1 or B-2 Visa may file an application for extension of stay. If you are abroad and have an expired B-1 or B-2 Visa, you need to apply for a new visa at the U.S. Embassy or Consulate in your home country.
