E-2 Treaty Investor Visa
Foreign nationals who wish to invest in the United States may be able to obtain an E-2 Treaty Investor Visa.
Eligibility Requirements
- The E-2 Visa applicant must be a national of a country with which the United States maintains a treaty of commerce.
- The purpose of the individual's entry must be to carry out substantial trade.

Substantial Trade
To be carrying out "substantial trade" you must be:
- engaging in trade in services or technology between the U.S. and a treaty country, or
- developing and directing an enterprise in which you have invested, or
- in the process of investing a substantial amount of capital.

Ownership Interest
You must have more than fifty (50%) percent ownership of the investment, unless you are coming as an employee of the enterprise.
